Fortification

  • WPPS highly appreciate initiative of FSSAI on flour fortification and starting Food Fortification Resource Center (FFRC)
  • WPPS supports fortification of wheat based products (Whole Wheat Flour (ATTA); Maida; Baked and extruded products.
  • As such, we proposed to organize “Industry Meet on Fortification” where key industry leaders from key wheat based industries will be invited to deliberate on subject and take it forward for fight with malnutrition in the country.
  • With FSSAI initiative, WPPS is sure that India will be set an example by introducing fortified wheat based products around the country for masses.
  • In furtherance of these objectives the WPPS

–has been arranging from time to time market studies, seminars, workshops and similar other activities in respect of all aspects of wheat and wheat products including marketing for development of wheat based industries as well as marketing of wheat products, etc.

–WPPS conducted National Survey of Wheat Industries through Operation Research Group (ORG) with support of allied association and Ministry of Food Processing Industries and U.S. Wheat Associates in  1999.

–WPPS has published book on Marketing of Wheat and Wheat Products  in the year 1989.

–WPPS has conducted more than 20 National & International Seminar on Wheat and Wheat Products. In series last seminar was conducted in the year 2016 in Goa.

–WPPS has  been publishing Souvenir and Proceedings of above mentioned seminars. These publications have been widely distributed.

  • WPPS along with FSSAI recently published A HANDBOOK on Wheat & Wheat based Products-Quality Dynamics . This book was highly appreciated by industry and academia.
  • WPPS has been involved fortification of wheat and products since 2001. WPPS initiated flour fortification in Punjab and supported Micronutrient Initiative. Since then wheat flour fortification has been promoted along with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, Food Fortification Initiative and industry partners.. It has been part of our biennial International Wheat Seminar for last 15 years.
  • 2021 – WPPS conducted 9th International Wheat Seminar virtually which was deliberated by 37 speakers from India and abroad. It was attended by more than 1,200 participants.
  • 2022 – WPPS conducted Wheat Quality Seminar in April.
